HELLO EVERYONE! 💚🌱
I can’t successfully grow a tomato…so, what makes me think I can grow cannabis??!!
My name is Jodi Chapin, aka Nurse Jodi. I’ve been a nurse for over 30 years in a hospital and have had no problem nurturing a human being. But a plant? Forget about it!! Oh, don’t get me wrong, I’ve kept a number of houseplants (barely) alive and have had great success at STARTING a vegetable or herb garden. I’m not sure what happens. I forget to fertilize or water a few times, and BAM the whole garden is a dead mess!
However, it was not until many years later when adult use of cannabis was being considered for legalization in my state that I discovered that EVERYONE has an endocannabinoid system (ECS)! The more I learned about the endocannabinoid system and how it affects ALL other systems in our bodies, the more it sparked my curiosity about how I could use cannabis to its fullest potential. Once I discovered how many physical, mental, and spiritual benefits the plant had I wanted to learn everything I could about cannabis thus beginning my cannabis journey.
I am an active member of the American Cannabis Nurses Association. In 2018 I joined Green Network Practitioners, a group of cannabis experts who educate, empower and assist patients to safely utilize cannabis to bring our bodies back to balance. In 2019 I became the Director of Nursing of Green Network Practitioners and things just took off from there.
In light of the COVID crisis we have been faced with, we now offer Telemedicinene Medical Card Certification in the state of MA, Vermont, NY, and Iowa. As a GNP Nurse my goal is to educate on the endocannabinoid system and advocate for people who choose to use cannabis as an complementary or alternative treatment while providing education, insight, guidance, and support in the process.
There are a few reasons why I wanted to grow my own cannabis plants. Such as saving some money over time, the connection to the plant, the ability to grow specific strains for treatment, and even just as a fun new hobby. I decided to get a few books and visited some how-to-grow websites, and more recently befriended a couple local farmers to help educate me. I was more intimidated than ever!
Some people said to me, “it’s a weed, how difficult could it be to grow??” Well, I’m here to tell you that growing your own cannabis plants will require that you do some research, obtain the tools and supplies, as well as maintain a good amount of patience.
I researched. I tried. I failed. I researched more, I tried, I got a little better. I’ve learned. I will continue to learn. I will get better. I will succeed! 💚🌱
My very first grow was made from an old clothes wardrobe with a sheet over it in my basement with a set of LED lights I purchased from Amazon for a couple of clones given to me at a patient/caregiver support group. Although I have since updated my setup, I am still quite a beginner grower myself. I wanted to share my trials and tribulations, growth and experience, as well as getting tips and tricks from expert cultivators out there!
That is when On The Grow was born!
I must disclose that I live in Massachusetts where cannabis is legal for medical, as well as, adult use. We have certain possession, use and grow laws, in which I need to abide by in order to stay within the law.
You can find me at https://www.greennursegroup.com, and on YouTube, and IG TV. On Facebook you can find me on GreenNurse Group and Irie Bliss Forum.
On the Grow will air weekly at various times to accomodate GNP's Nurse Jodi's busy schedule.
